After I listening and working with the first 5 videos of the stories, I listened to your voice message again, not just once, and of course needed to go back and forth, so it still was a little challenge to filter the message out, but yes, the training with the first 5 videos only definitely had an impact and this experience is such a good feeling of success which every beginner needs, I think; not to be intimidated by the language.

At the beginning of Portuguese Start, understanding spoken Portuguese felt nearly impossible. But after listening to these stories, I am not only more confident, I realize that I am learning a lot of vocabulary and verb conjugations. I noticed that I can better understand my Portuguese neighbors and actually speak some short sentences.
It is fun. I am going to listen to the stories again to reinforce my growing vocabulary and become more accustomed to spoken Portuguese. This approach reminds me of how parents read storybooks to their kids to build comprehension and functional language. A very pleasant and effective way to learn.

I really think it’s amazing. The focus on listening sold it for me and I wish I knew as a beginner how Portuguese people spoke instead of being introduced to Cinderella Portuguese as a beginner. I would definitely recommend the course to a beginner.It is fun. I am going to listen to the stories again to reinforce my growing vocabulary and become more accustomed to spoken Portuguese. I would highly recommend the Portuguese Start program. This new program for beginners provides all aspects of learning a new language that include the basic rules and information and short stories that are integrated with vocabulary, grammar, common usages and phrases, exercises and more in the format that you can repeat and learn in your own pace. Unlike conventional learning, Portuguese Start is a unique, fun and comprehensive program for complete beginners.

What drew me first to Catarina's material is her emphasis on understanding Portuguese as spoken by a native. She explains how and why so many sounds in words and sentences change or disappear.
I really liked Portuguese Start a lot! The introduction to how the language works is really helpful. The first videos in the "600 words" series were quite difficult for me, I couldn't understand individual words, but with each subsequent video my understanding got better and better. For the last few I was able to write almost 100% of the text after the second hearing. The stories are presented in an interesting way in everyday language. Portuguese Start has given me a lot of confidence. Congratulations, Catarina! Great job
