This week I got 3 phone calls - 1 for an encomenda and 2 for gas delivery. Even after I said “hello, bom dia” the callers did not switch to English. They just rattled on in Portuguese. Here’s the "iupiii moment: I didn’t ask them to speak English. I calmly listened and realized I understood enough and was even able to ask “a que horas? Quando?” As we practiced in the livechat (akihorash). It was empowering not to panic! It felt great to know “I’ve got this!” Obrigada to you and Prapti!!

Finalmente um #iupiii 😄.Hoje convidámos alguns dos nossos vizinhos portugueses para um café, uma vez que vamos para a Suécia e ficaremos lá durante todo o Verão. Conseguimos falar português durante cerca de meia hora antes de passarmos para inglês. Ele tem uma oficina de arquitectura e tínhamos muito que conversar.

I always try to open with Portuguese when buying things and will be answered in English. This week however I ordered bika's and pastéis de nata and was answered in Portuguese all the way - I even understood the cost! #iupiii
